RRP and OSHA require that abatement containment is done to the highest level of safety and risk management. Containment of the generated airborne and wastewater dust and debris is critical to proper compliance and worker safety. Improperly contained dust and debris is not only a violations, but it can be very harmful for the environment, on-site workers and the occupants of neighboring areas.
Building an airtight containment is paramount to protecting interiors during restoration projects and minimizing the risk of contact with hazardous materials during abatement. Containments serve to:
- Prevent potentially hazardous substances – such as mold spores, asbestos, lead-based paint, silica dust, and more – from spreading throughout the entire structure.
- Address concerns for health and safety, especially where airborne hazardous materials are present.
- Function as a barrier to keep dust and other particles confined within a work space, which also helps make clean-up easier.
