“An EPA-registered disinfectant made from authentic botanical ingredients inspired by nature.” • “Combining botanical power with EPA-certified effectiveness.”
• PreVasive uses authentic whole plant botanical oils in our products, crafted from naturally distilled plant oils and sustainable components.”
• “Designed with environmentally responsible and biodegradable ingredients.”
1. Broader Spectrum of Activity:
Whole-plant oils contain multiple bioactive compounds, creating a synergistic effect that enhances antimicrobial efficacy. Synthetic copies typically target specific pathogens and may not be as versatile.
2. Lower Risk of Resistance Development:
The diverse array of compounds in whole-plant oils makes it harder for pathogens to develop resistance. Single-chemical synthetic disinfectants are more likely to contribute to resistance over time.
3. Eco-Friendliness:
Whole-plant oils are biodegradable and derived from renewable resources, whereas synthetic disinfectants often rely on petrochemical processes that may harm the environment.
4. Natural Profile:
Many whole-plant oils are less toxic to humans and animals, reducing risks associated with exposure. Synthetic chemicals can carry higher risks of irritation or toxicity.
5. Multi-Functionality:
Whole-plant oils often have additional benefits, and modes of action whereas synthetic options are usually single-purpose.
This refers to a virus that meets specific criteria under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidance for antiviral product claims. This tier includes the most resistant, non-enveloped viruses, which are harder to kill compared to enveloped viruses.
EPA’s Three-Tier System for Emerging Viral Pathogens:
The EPA classifies viruses based on their susceptibility to disinfectants into three tiers:
1. Tier 1 (Enveloped Viruses):
Easiest to inactivate with disinfectants. Examples: Influenza, SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
2. Tier 2 (Large, Non-Enveloped Viruses): Harder to kill than enveloped viruses. Examples: Rotavirus, Adenovirus.
3. Tier 3 (Small, Non-Enveloped Viruses): Hardest to kill and most resistant to disinfectants. Examples: Poliovirus, Norovirus, Rhinovirus.
Significance of Tier 3:
Disinfectants that demonstrate effectiveness against Tier 3 pathogens are considered effective against enveloped and large non-enveloped viruses.
Oil droplet emulsification encapsulation: Essential oil droplets get incorporated into the hydrophobic core of these surfactant micelles, effectively encapsulating them within the surfactant structure.
Stable emulsion formation: Multiple oil-filled micelles disperse throughout the aqueous phase, resulting in a stable O/W emulsion. The surfactant coating prevents oil droplets from coalescing (coming together) and maintains their dispersion in the water.
Importance of emulsification:
PreVasive’s Emulsifying of essential oils offers several advantages:
Improved solubility: Encapsulation makes essential oils, which are typically hydrophobic, water-soluble, thus enhancing their bioavailability and delivery in various applications.
Controlled release: The surfactant coating can control the release rate of the essential oil, prolonging its cleaning activity.
Enhanced stability: Emulsification Encapsulation protects essential oils from degradation due to factors like light, oxidation, and enzymatic activity.
Increased penetration and interaction: Emulsification Encapsulation can enhance the penetration into microbial membranes due to: Emulsification oils exhibit lower contacts on microbial surfaces compared to their free state. This suggests better spreading and wetting of the microbes by increasing its interaction with the membrane and enhancing its disruptive effect.
Smaller particle size: Surfactant micelles containing the oil generally have smaller diameters compared to free oil droplets, enabling better access to crevices and rough surfaces on microbes for cleaning.
Contact, which represents the angle between a liquid droplet and the solid surface it rests on, can provide insights into the wetting behavior of the disinfectant. Therefore, the absorption and wetting ability of PreVasive botanical Disinfectant provides a low angle droplet powerhouse for cleaning
